Using Compare and Contrast Essay Samples
Using Compare and Contrast Essay SamplesBefore writing your essay, it is imperative to have a comparison and contrast essay samples. While they can be very helpful in narrowing down the scope of your topic, they should not be the sole basis for your essay. If you find one that fits perfectly for what you want to write, then go for it. If you find several that are not to your liking, try to figure out why.Make sure that you have a general idea of the main ideas of the pieces you are comparing. It might take a few tries to get it right. You will also want to make sure that they are all independent ideas. Otherwise, they are not really any more than any of the other written essays you have seen. One idea might be related to another idea, but the former doesn't work as well as the latter.Write out your thoughts, and then make a list of your thoughts, but don't make a list of your differences with them. There should be no duplication of ideas. If there is, try and break them up into small er bits. Now that you know the basics of the piece, go back and look at your previous point. Compare and contrast. Look for similarities, but keep your differences there as well. You do not want to take too much of the essence of the piece and then end up with two disparate pieces.Read through the piece again, trying to catch as many of the small details as possible. These will vary based on the topic of the essay, but they should help you bring out the best of the essay. By looking at these small details, you will also be able to spot where there is a tendency to use the same mistakes repeatedly.Reading over the pieces, you will be able to see the big picture, and will be able to see small differences between the two. This should give you the feeling that you are a little more experienced when it comes to writing your own essay.Reading over the pieces again will also give you the sense of if you are doing something right or not. After all, it is your own essay, so it shouldn't be to o hard for you to pick up mistakes. Doing this sort of thing every now and then will be of great benefit to you in the future, since you will become more adept at avoiding and catching errors. When you are done, compare and contrast your essay samples. Notice anything that seems odd about the differences. At this point, you will likely want to make a note of what you noticed, and then continue on with your essay, refining it until you are completely satisfied with it.
