Assessing Fifth Grade Essay Topics
Assessing Fifth Grade Essay TopicsAs a sixth grader, it's typical to be handed a huge pile of essays to write for one of the essay writing competitions. This usually causes students to get completely freaked out because, as they always do, they begin to panic over which topic to use in their essay and which essay topic to base the topic on.Fifth grade is when you are first introduced to essay writing as an art form, or perhaps you're just starting to get into writing all together. Regardless of the reason for why your seventh grader starts panicking, the fact remains that he should give some thought to the topic of his essay before he begins writing it.If you're in fifth grade, don't worry because you have a long way to go before you're ready to write your first piece of writing. Instead, give some consideration to the subject matter of the topic of your essay. Look at all of the essay writing websites, and check to see if there is a common theme. For example, if you're looking at sit es that list the topic of 'Science'Technology', then look for common themes. Or, if you're looking at topics that are associated with environmental issues, like 'Eco-Friendly Education'Sustainable Environment', and so forth, then you can find themes. These are just a few tips for you to use as you peruse those sites, and of course, what you might find are the common themes that many schools and teachers have already established as the standards for writing and teaching. Themes are not necessarily always the best topic of choice. Many teachers have used the first four themes listed above as a baseline for starting to work on their own topic ideas, but most schools don't create these common themes as a means of creating the classes or topics that the teachers take on when they start their careers as educators. Themes are really more of a teacher's tool for creating opportunities for students to talk about different topics, and as such, they will use them more often than not.In this case , the first topic should not necessarily be the best topic. It's certainly not your first choice, but it's just another topic that your students could talk about. As a fifth grade goes on, you'll have the opportunity to read a little bit about how and why the subject matters. But if your kids haven't yet reached this point, then it may be a good idea to choose a topic that you know they would like to discuss.
